Serving the Community with Compassion: Medical Outreach and Youth Ministry in Dunga Slums
Greetings from Kisumu, Kenya!
My name is Sasha Syskova, and I have the honor of serving full-time with Mission Assistance, ministering in the heart of the Dunga slums. I oversee our finances, assist with translation, support our youth ministry, and help provide first aid when needed. It’s a joy to be part of a team that brings God’s love into every corner of the community.
A Free Medical Clinic: A Gift of Healing
Thanks to the generous support of IMOC (International Ministry Of Charity), we recently hosted a free clinic that served dozens of people in need. The impact was profound — elderly individuals, single mothers with children, and even children who came alone received care for health issues they had carried for years without treatment. What a powerful example of how love in action can change lives!
I was also personally involved in providing first aid during this season, tending to needs both big and small. Each bandage, each conversation, each moment of care reflects God’s heart for His people.
Supporting the Body of Christ Through Work and Discipleship
In my role managing finances, I work alongside amazing women like Margaret, a faithful member of our church staff. It’s a blessing to be able to provide employment for those who serve in ministry. Margaret not only helps with the mission but also leads home groups and discipleship gatherings, multiplying the Kingdom impact far beyond the church walls.
Translation That Brings Unity
Language can be a barrier — but we are determined to keep hearts connected. I support the mission by translating between Russian and English, helping everyone understand the Word of God and participate fully in our shared mission.
Youth Ministry That Transforms
Through the Year for God youth team, we’ve been able to reach out to single mothers in our church community. Without washing machines or household appliances, housework becomes overwhelming. Our young people stepped in to clean homes, do laundry, and offer prayer and fellowship. One unforgettable moment was watching our church pastor wash clothes in the lake for three hours — a true example of servant leadership.
In our youth gatherings, we explored what it means to be a “fan of Jesus” versus a true follower. We also tackled the powerful topic of being born again, after many teens expressed doubts about their salvation. The small group discussions were honest, deep, and filled with the Holy Spirit. We see God moving in the hearts of young people!
Thank You for Making This Possible
To every friend and supporter — thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your trust. Because of you, I have the privilege of serving in Kenya, doing what God has called me to do. I pray that He blesses you with peace, faith, joy, and righteousness in every area of your life.
Together, we are bringing the Gospel to life — one act of love at a time.
