Full Hearts, Growing Faith: Serving Children and Families in Kisumu, Kenya
Greetings from Kisumu, Kenya — from the heart of the Assistance Mission team! We are filled with joy and gratitude as we share how God continues to work through every act of love, every prayer, and every gift given through you, our faithful partners.
Preteens Ministry: Shaping Young Lives for Christ
Each week, our preteens ministry welcomes over 250 children aged 8–12. Through worship, games, Bible lessons, and small group discussions, we create a space where children not only hear about Jesus but experience His love in action.
Before every service, the children receive a hot meal or snack, thanks to your support. This not only meets their physical needs but also reminds them they are seen, loved, and valued.
We operate in two formats:
General Gatherings – fun, interactive Bible-based lessons for all the children together.
Small Groups – 7–8 groups of about 25 children each, where they go deeper in understanding Scripture and learning how to apply it.
We thank God for our dedicated leaders, who now confidently lead sessions on their own. Before every service, our team gathers in prayer, supporting each other and lifting up the children we serve.
Holiday Camp for Preteens
With the school holiday underway, we launched a training camp for active preteens, with over 30 participants. This is a valuable time of spiritual growth, learning, and community for children eager to serve and grow in faith.
Daily Life in the Children’s Home
Our children’s home is always full of activity. We manage finances, prepare reports, visit schools, and remain actively involved in the educational journey of every child. This month, we:
Met with teachers, analyzed report cards, and developed a three-week learning plan for holiday studies.
Welcomed two new foster families: one caring for two boys, and another for a girl and boy. We support them through monthly food packages, rent assistance, prayer, and mentorship meetings.
We also held a special meeting with future foster parents, mentors, and assistants, praying for transformation, progress in documentation, and the development of our new foster home model.
Visiting Families in Crisis
Beyond the church walls, we go into homes — especially where families face major challenges. We listen, observe, and pray for each child and parent, offering not only food but the comfort and hope of Jesus Christ.
Children in these families often open up about their hardships. We witness their pain, but also their faith — a belief that God will help them through it all.
We Bring More Than Food — We Bring Hope
Every visit is an opportunity to sow seeds of hope, to remind each family that they are not alone. We don’t just deliver a food parcel — we bring the presence of God, the message of the Gospel, and encouragement for tomorrow.
Thank You for Being a Part of This Mission
To each of you who prays, gives, and stands with us — thank you from the depths of our hearts. Your faithfulness empowers this mission to reach hundreds of children and families. Together, we are bringing light into dark places, healing into broken hearts, and planting the truth of Christ where it’s needed most.
May God richly bless you. Your love is transforming lives in Kenya — one child, one family, one heart at a time.
