Year for God: A New Season of Growth in Kenya
This is a report from missionary Sasha Syskova, who serves full-time in Kisumu, Kenya, together with the Mission Assistance team. Thanks to everyone who supports the ministry through IMOCE, Sasha is able to continue her service among youth and young adults, helping them grow in faith and discover their calling.
In Kisumu, the seventh class of the Year for God Bible school has officially begun. This program is more than classes—it’s a community where young people study the Bible, minister, learn practical skills, and live together. Sasha helps with translation, discipleship, and evangelism alongside the students. “We see God moving from glory to glory,” she shares.
Recently, the youth ministry hosted a special Game Night to encourage the teens before the start of the new school year. For many, it was their first time experiencing games like these. The evening was filled with laughter, friendship, and prayer over the students as they prepared to return to class. Even those who are usually shy and reserved found themselves opening up and enjoying fellowship.
Another highlight of the ministry has been sending out young people as missionaries. Two graduates from Year for God #6, Kim and Hillary, were recently commissioned to serve among another tribe—continuing the vision of raising leaders who carry the Gospel to new places.
This month, much of the teaching and discussion centered on the love of the Father. In a nation where many families are broken and countless children grow up as orphans, this message brought comfort and healing. Discipleship also remains a priority for the church in Kisumu, as leaders walk closely with young people, guiding them in their journey with Christ.
Sasha shares: “We love seeing lost youth return to Jesus. It is such a blessing to mentor them, to watch them grow, and then to see some step out as missionaries themselves.”
The team in Kisumu is deeply grateful for all who support this ministry. Your prayers and generosity make it possible for youth in Kenya to encounter God’s love, build strong relationships, and be sent out to share the Gospel.
🙏 Thank you for standing with Sasha Syskova and the Mission Assistance team. Please continue to pray for the Year for God students, the youth, and for God’s Word to take root deeply in this community.
