Where Discipleship Begins with a Meal: Natalia’s Ministry to Teens and Families in Kenya
A warm hello from Kenya.
Natalia has dedicated eight years to the Assistance Mission, working tirelessly alongside young people, the vulnerable, and those often overlooked. What began as a simple act of obedience to God’s calling has blossomed into a life of daily ministry, defined by prayer, presence, and a quiet strength.
Her primary focus is deeply invested in the lives of preteens and teenagers. Each week, the team facilitates large gatherings, small home groups, and discipleship sessions. Even more remarkable, a prayer team consisting solely of teenagers – young hearts learning to intercede for others – has been established.
Beyond worship and teaching, opportunities for creative expression abound: a youth choir and dance team where talents are cultivated and purpose is uncovered. Through these platforms, young people are being guided away from worldly distractions and towards a relationship with God.
But before every scheduled event, there is a fundamental necessity – a hot meal.
“We always start by feeding the children,” Natalia explains. “Many come from homes where food is not a certainty. Your contributions allow us to provide for their spiritual and physical needs.”
Occasionally, the team confronts particularly challenging circumstances. A mother of three recently lost her husband, who died while incarcerated. Natalia made several visits to their home. “We couldn’t just leave them,” she recounts. “Now, the children are in school—a significant accomplishment.”
Natalia also serves orphans and foster families, a ministry that continues to expand. This month, individual meetings with foster parents were held, along with distribution of food parcels. Out of the eight families being supported, two receive regular assistance through weekly home visits and personalized connection.
One evening, Natalia gathered older girls around a campfire—a moment of warmth and shared trust. “They asked questions. They were so open. Often, they just need a safe place and someone to listen.”
Another highlight was the recent Children’s Day celebration, a lively event that brought together the mission family, which God has been forming for more than a decade. “We are not simply a team,” Natalia shares. “We are a true family. And we concluded in the best possible way—with a prayer of blessing for the children.”
To everyone who contributes to this ministry through prayers, financial support, and faith—thank you. Your presence is felt in every meal served, every child welcomed, every heart that is encouraged. Together, we are building the Kingdom of God in Kenya—one child, one prayer, one home at a time.
May God’s abundant blessings be upon you.
