Updates from Ukraine: A Shelter of Hope and a Message of Light
Greetings, dear friends! Ukraine 🇺🇦 is reaching out to share some important updates with you.
In western Ukraine, our branch — IMOCE “Heart of the Son” — continues to serve with compassion and love.
This place has become a final refuge for elderly people who, in their later years, were left alone, forgotten, and without support.
Here, each resident finds warmth, dignity, and the care that every heart so desperately needs, especially in the autumn of life.
We stand alongside those whom others have left behind.
Many of the elderly arrive in heartbreaking conditions.
Among them is Yakovlev Serhii, who was found in Kramatorsk after spending long months in hospitals, his health severely deteriorated.
Another grandfather was rescued from the bitter cold, hunger, and loneliness in Siversk.
Pastor Oleksii Zamorenyi, the director of the “Heart of the Son” hospice, expresses his heartfelt gratitude for your support, your kindness, and your open hearts.
Recently, thanks to your generosity, they received a large wardrobe to help store essential belongings — a small but crucial gift that brings order and comfort to their daily lives.
For these precious souls, it’s not just about survival.
Every kind word, every warm glance becomes a lifeline.
They need to feel heard and understood, to know they are not alone in the silence that often surrounds them.
At the “Heart of the Son,” they can freely share their thoughts, memories, and hopes, finding comfort in one another.
Special activities are also organized to help them strengthen their memory, maintain a connection with the past, and discover new meaning in the present.
Through these memory sessions, residents not only recall their life stories but also build new friendships, share smiles, and create new conversations that breathe life into their hearts.
Meanwhile, in central Ukraine, our team continues to serve faithfully:
Creating safe spaces for children and teenagers,
Supporting vulnerable families,
Providing aid to soldiers — from nails to Starlink systems.
Recently, soldiers from the Zaporizhzhia region sent us a fresh photo, joyfully showing tulips blooming next to a destroyed building. Even amidst ruins, signs of life and hope appear.
In Berdychiv, our branch received a humanitarian container — a tremendous blessing for which we are deeply grateful!
Thank you, dear friends!
Because of your faithful support, we are able to:
Bring warmth and dignity to the elderly,
Offer strength and hope to our soldiers,
Provide vital supplies through humanitarian aid.
Your kindness is changing lives.
Together, we are bringing light and the message of Christ to places where hope is desperately needed.
