Supporting missionaries in Kenya 10/10/2024
Greetings from Kenya!
Alexandra Syskova serves with the “Sodeystvie” mission in Kenya. Her main responsibilities include managing finances, translation, and assisting with youth ministry. At the beginning of each month, Alexandra handles payroll for the church, mission staff, and various ministries, as well as paying the mission’s bills. Every week, she allocates funds for the “Child Sponsorship” program, providing food for missionaries, supporting feeding projects, construction, medical needs, and emergency projects.
The team is grateful that God has given them the opportunity to bless locals by providing work. Recently, Alexandra and the “Year for God” team held two successful evangelistic outreaches.
During the first outreach, they visited local slums and decided to serve elderly people, mothers of large families, and the sick by helping them clean their homes. Afterward, they spent time in spiritual fellowship and prayer. The second outreach took place in an even poorer slum, where the living conditions were dire, and many residents did not attend church. The team split into pairs, following where God led them. Each group went in different directions, engaging in conversations and praying with the people they met.
In addition, the team organized a monthly youth service. Although their focus is currently on the youth prayer room, this month’s youth gathering featured the topic of “spiritual weapons.” They played games like “truth or lie” and discussed how to use God’s Word as their “sword.” The highlight was dressing Inna in full armor and performing a small theatrical skit, followed by the youth assigning various spiritual weapons.
One particular young man, James, came to them from the streets two months ago. Alexandra and the team were able to locate his family, and last week, she took him home. They plan to visit him regularly, spend time with him, and provide him with Bible materials, hoping that in January, he will return to school.
Alexandra also expressed gratitude to “Embrace” for their advice. She recently helped officiate a marriage registration, which took seven hours according to African time, but they succeeded! The following week, they celebrated in church.
She extends her heartfelt thanks to everyone for their care and financial support: “May God meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus! We stand with you in prayer!”
