Serving in Kisumu, Kenya – A Report from Alexandra Syskova
We are excited to share an update from Alexandra Syskova, who serves full-time with Mission Assistance in Kisumu, Kenya. Through this mission, IMOC supports social projects, orphan care, medical aid, and youth ministry.
Equipping and Empowering Local Leaders
Alexandra’s primary roles within the mission include translation, financial management, first aid, and youth ministry. She oversees finances for various ministries, including the mission base, orphanage, churches, and other outreach efforts. A significant part of her work is also training local leaders, ensuring that the community can grow sustainably and independently.
“I am grateful to God that He is raising up local people to take on responsibilities and serve their communities,” Alexandra shares. “Currently, I am training Agnes, a church secretary, on how to maintain a financial database. Our goal is to empower local leaders so that the ministry continues to bear fruit without dependence on us, but fully relying on God.”
Medical Outreach: Bringing Healthcare to Those in Need
Access to medical care in Kenya remains a challenge. Public hospitals are overcrowded, and private healthcare is often unaffordable for families who already struggle to buy food. Malnutrition weakens immune systems, leading to frequent illnesses, while children left unattended suffer preventable accidents.
In response to these challenges, Alexandra assists with first aid and medical support, treating wounds, burns, and illnesses, conducting malaria testing, and distributing essential medicine. For more serious cases, patients are referred to hospitals for further care.
IMOC’s free medical clinics have been an incredible blessing, providing much-needed relief to many in the community. Praise God for this opportunity to serve and bring healing!
Breaking Language Barriers: The Role of Translation
A vital part of Alexandra’s ministry is translation. She assists in translating meetings, seminars, sermons, and Bible school lessons. Many missionaries are still learning English, and visiting ministry teams from Europe often speak Ukrainian or Russian, requiring translation for effective communication.
Youth Ministry: Reaching the Next Generation
Recently, Alexandra’s team was deeply impacted by the testimony of a young man from a different culture, yet whose life experiences mirrored those of many local youth.
“Many of our youth come from the streets and struggle with violence, peer pressure, and difficult life choices,” Alexandra explains. “We decided to show them this testimony and then divide into small groups for deeper discussions. We have found that small groups are the most effective way to reach young people personally and help them grow in faith.”
Gratitude and Prayer Requests
Alexandra expresses deep gratitude for all who support this mission:
“Thank you so much for your continued support! Your trust in us and the work we are doing here is invaluable. It is an honor to be part of God’s Kingdom alongside you. I pray that the Lord abundantly blesses your lives, families, and ministries.”
🙏 Please keep praying for:
- The continued growth and empowerment of local leaders.
- The expansion of medical outreach to reach even more people in need.
- Strength and wisdom for missionaries serving in Kisumu.
- The transformation of youth through discipleship and small group ministries.
Thank you for being part of this mission and making a difference in Kenya! Together, we are changing lives for the glory of God.
