Good evening to all. My name is John Baraka; I am a pastor and together with my wife Elvira and son, Lucá , lead and serve at New Life Church in Kapuothe slums in Kisumu city, Kenya; church that IMOCE has helped us build and supports too.
It has been a few weeks of hectic activities and I will gladly share what has been going on in the last two weeks or so.
A week or so ago; we had an amazing time at the church when the church hosted a medical clinic courtesy of IMOCE. More than 200 people from within the church and the community were able to receive treatment; doctor consultation, and medication. Most importantly; we prayed for the sick for healing and also shared the gospel of salvation and Jesus with them.
We are so grateful to IMOCE and the team that visited us for the help and support we received.
Every end of the week I get to meet our young people from our Project Year For God for lesson on the Gospel and salvation. This particular week was interesting as we got to do a question and answer session on Christianity and salvation. A lot of learning always going on during this sessions. Always a time to impact the lives of the young people with the gospel and mentor them on faith in God and matters salvation.
During this time we also decided to construct washing sinks for the toilets since we didn’t build any when we made the toilets. We also found a better option for the general garbage in the church by constructing a disposal point too. Overseeing all these work done is also my responsibility.
We are also grateful to IMOCE for helping us build firewood stoves for our feeding program. Every day in the evening we feed more that 80 individuals as we provide them with hot meals. Those who have been in need of food no longer sleep hungry and we praise The Lord for that.
Every Sunday is also an opportunity to preach and speak the word of God and share with people in our church the gospel of salvation and Jesus. God is faithful and we are grateful that He is always bringing people with hunger and thirst for Him. In the course of the week; it’s always great visiting some of the people who come to our church in their homes and also to pray for them. I had chance to visit one of our grandmother who is a widow and lives alone. She had been struggling with sickness and basic needs and we thank God that we were able to pray with her and also help her meet some of her basic needs.
I frequently meet with church leaders that i serve with to encourage them in ministry and also to empower them with the word of God. This past week I had a one one one meeting g with the worship team leader.
Finally; Thank you so much to everyone who supports us in every way.. We thank God that we can continue reaching hundreds of people with the Gospel of Jesus through our church and the projects we undertake. May God bless you abundantly.
Keep us in Your prayers too 🙏🏾
