Education and Hope in the Turkana Desert
IMOC, in partnership with Victoria Schools in Turkana, continues to bring education, nourishment, and hope to children in one of Kenya’s most challenging regions.
This week marked the full reopening of our schools after the holiday break. Due to severe drought and food shortages, many families struggle to provide meals for their children. For most students, school is the only place where they receive a full meal, making our feeding program crucial. This has significantly improved attendance—an incredible 99% of students were present in class this week.
We also received fantastic news: our school has officially gained government accreditation! This milestone allows our students to take national exams, opening new educational opportunities for their future.
The learning process is running smoothly, and we’ve noticed a positive shift—students are more focused and engaged. Since their school meal is often their only substantial food for the day, they eagerly anticipate lunchtime, and their appetites have noticeably increased.
Thanks to the well on our school grounds, our trees and crops have survived the drought, remaining lush and productive. This small school farm plays a vital role in sustaining our food program.
Your support is making a life-changing impact! Because of you, these children receive not just education, but nourishment and a brighter future. Thank you for standing with us in transforming their lives!
