Church Growing, Lives Changing: Ministry Update from Kisumu
Greetings from Kisumu.
Pastor Baraka and his wife continue to serve their community as pastors of a local church in Kisumu, Kenya. Through consistent ministry, care, and teaching, the church has grown into a place of hope and transformation for the surrounding community.
With the partnership and support of IMOCE and committed partners, the church has been established and strengthened to serve more than 800 people cumulatively through regular church services, discipleship ministries, social projects, and evangelistic outreaches. The Gospel of Christ is being shared openly, and its impact is visible in everyday life.
In the context of a slum community, testimonies continue to emerge. People speak of lives changed through God’s Word—freedom from drug abuse, witchcraft, crime, and destructive patterns. The church has become a place where spiritual transformation leads to restored families and renewed purpose.
Baptism Preparation
This season has also brought spiritual growth. Around 15 individuals have signed up for water baptism. Pastor Baraka has been meeting with each of them personally to talk through their understanding of salvation and baptism. These one-on-one conversations are preparing the church for an upcoming Baptism Sunday—a significant milestone for the congregation.
Feeding Program
The church feeding program continues to serve some of the most vulnerable members of the community. With the support of sponsors, meals are provided to families that include orphans, single mothers, widows, and grandparents. This practical care remains a powerful expression of God’s love in action.
Prayer Room
Every Thursday evening and Saturday morning, the church opens its prayer room to everyone. These sessions are dedicated to prayer, reflection on Scripture, worship, and quiet meditation. The goal is to cultivate a strong culture of prayer and deepen people’s personal relationship with God as the church steps into a new season.
The ministry in Kisumu continues because of God’s grace and the faithful support of those who stand behind this work through generosity and prayer.
