Bread That Keeps the Light On
In the midst of war, constant shelling, prolonged blackouts, and severe winter cold, daily life in Ukraine continues under extraordinary pressure. Yet even in these conditions, God’s care becomes visible through people who keep serving without pause.
One of these ongoing acts of faithfulness is the bread ministry carried out with the steady support of IMOCE and the leadership of Anatoliy Kolomiyets. From the first days of Russia’s attack on Ukraine and until today, this support has made it possible to continue baking bread for those who need it most.
The need has grown significantly. During the harsh winter months, churches across the Kyiv region have opened their doors as places of warmth and refuge. People come to warm up, charge their phones, drink tea, and receive fresh bread. Along with the bread, they receive the Word of God — a quiet but powerful reminder that they are not forgotten.
Every day, loaves are sent through Nova Poshta and delivered by volunteers who travel toward the frontline to support civilians living under constant danger. This work continues despite air raid sirens, power outages, and freezing temperatures. Generators run through the night. Night shifts begin their work while alarms sound in the background.
This ministry exists because people continue to stand faithfully in support. Through their generosity, bread is baked, doors remain open, and light stays on — even in the darkest hours.
We thank God for everyone who serves, gives, and stands with Ukraine during this time. Through this shared faithfulness, lives are sustained and hope continues to move from hand to hand, loaf by loaf.
