In Kisumu, Kenya, missionary Katya from the Assistance Mission continues to serve through the Child Sponsorship Project, helping children from the slums gain access to education. As the school year in Kenya comes to an end, this period is filled with interviews and planning for the next academic term.

Recently, Katya and Vlada met to discuss upcoming goals and steps for the project. A special meeting was also held for the sponsored children, where they received all the essential materials required for their final exams—an important provision, as students in Kenya are not allowed to sit for exams without them.

Beyond the sponsorship work, Katya also oversees the financial ministry of the mission, ensuring that resources are available for every area of service. She is additionally involved in medical assistance, offering basic healthcare and distributing prescribed medicines when needed.

Last week, she and the team visited older girls who had previously lived in the mission’s shelter and now live independently. It was a warm and meaningful time—playing board games, cooking together, and talking openly about topics that matter to young people.

Katya expresses deep gratitude to everyone who continues to support missionaries: together, we are carrying out God’s work.
