Bringing Hope to the Elderly and Children in Kenya
IMOC, in partnership with Mission Assistance, continues to transform lives in Kenya through practical love and service. Greetings from Oleg and Vlada Sydorchuk!
One of the projects we lead is the Elderly Feeding Program, which provides breakfast each morning for 18–25 elderly individuals in our church. This initiative was born out of a realization—many of the elderly in our community do not read the Bible for two reasons:
They never learned to read due to lack of education.
They have poor eyesight and no access to glasses or medical care.
To bridge this gap, we read the Bible aloud to them every day, worship together, and pray. To make their mornings easier, we also provide breakfast so they don’t have to struggle with making a fire just for a cup of tea.
This project has been running for nearly a year now, and every morning, these elderly men and women come together to serve one another and worship the Lord.
Sponsorship Program: Giving Children a Future
I also continue serving in the Child Sponsorship Project, which aims to provide children with the bare essentials for life. The dream of this project is simple:
Help children obtain official documents.
Enroll them in school.
Cover school fees and provide daily meals.
Visit the children’s families and supply them with basic necessities like beds, cups, spoons, plates, towels, and undergarments.
As the leader of this project, I spend a lot of time meeting with parents, village chiefs, and our local team, mentoring and training them in everything I’ve learned.
Expanding the Mission
We recently completed renovations on the kitchen at Dunga Church, where we provide both breakfast and dinner for those in need. This was a massive step forward for the mission! Our entire Mission Assistance team has worked tirelessly to make it happen.
We are incredibly grateful for each of you—God’s people—who stand with missionaries and support this work. Without you, we couldn’t do this! You may never fully realize just how much we appreciate your decision to support us.
Many people focus on feeding hungry African children, and that is crucial. But if no one is there to buy the food, prepare it, teach the gospel, and disciple them in Christ, then what is more valuable?
Thank you for making this mission possible!
With love and gratitude,
Vlada Sydorchuk, Kenya
