Brick by Brick: Building Hope in Turkana
Even in the harshest desert winds, hope can take root — especially when it’s nurtured by prayer, generosity, and love.
In Turkana, northern Kenya, the school continues to be a refuge — a place where education becomes possible even for those born into the most difficult circumstances. While the region faces persistent challenges, the vision remains clear: to give children not just knowledge, but dignity and a future. This week, the team continued building new classrooms — a slow and steady process, where each brick represents someone’s faith in what God can do.
Thanks to those who support this mission through IMOC, the work continues. Every prayer and every gift matters. For these children, school is more than a place to learn — it is the only place where they are truly safe, fed, and seen.
Recently, the staff reviewed the students’ academic progress. The results brought joy. Children who once sat quietly in the back of class now raise their hands. They ask questions. They smile more. There’s a growing desire to learn — something not often nurtured in desert homes where survival is the priority.
And this week, there was a special treat: a meat-based meal. For many of the children, it’s a rare gift — meat at home is a luxury, often available only once or twice a year. In school, the team tries to offer meat twice a week, a small but important step in nourishing both body and spirit. Often, the school lunch is the only real meal a child receives all day. So when we talk about food, we’re not just talking about nutrition — we’re talking about care, about dignity, about life.
Transport remains one of the biggest challenges. With children scattered across vast dry lands, getting to school safely isn’t guaranteed. And yet, the team prays and believes: if God has begun this work, He will not leave it unfinished.
Thank you to each of you who stays close — in prayer, in giving, in heart. Please don’t step away. The children of Turkana are rising, one class at a time. Let’s keep building — together.
