Bread of Hope Amid the War: Serving Ukrainians Through God’s Love
In the city of Kryvyi Rih, the horrors of war continue to leave deep scars. The image of a mother holding the still-warm hands of her 15-year-old son, killed by a missile fragment, is a pain that words can scarcely carry. Another boy’s phone keeps ringing, with “Dad” displayed on the screen. How does one find the strength to tell a father that his child has just been taken by this cruel war?
Yet, even in the midst of such suffering, God’s light shines through acts of love.
Thanks to the faithful generosity of our sponsors, the chaplaincy ministry in Ukraine has once again received the means to serve through the Bread Ministry. This vital outreach not only brings fresh loaves of bread to war-torn regions, but also carries the Good News of the Gospel to those in despair. Chaplains and volunteers are bringing physical and spiritual nourishment hand in hand — because people today are hungry for both.
For more than three years, the war has raged. Air raid sirens, explosions, broken families, grieving mothers — this is the daily reality for millions of Ukrainians. But as believers, we know that God continues to open doors for His Word to be proclaimed, even in the darkest places.
Though we have never had enough funds or ingredients to cover a full month of bread distribution, God continues to perform miracles through your support — multiplying flour, oil, salt, yeast, and other supplies just as He multiplied the loaves and fishes. Every loaf is baked with love, as unto the Lord.
To our dear sponsors — thank you. Your open hearts and faithful giving have become instruments of God’s care for Ukraine. Through you, hope is rising from the ashes.
We do not know how long we will be able to continue this ministry. But as long as the Lord grants us the grace, and as long as you stand with us, we will keep going. One loaf at a time. One soul at a time.
May the Lord bless you abundantly. Together, we are building the Kingdom of God.
