A Week of Healing and Hope in Kisumu
The ministry in Kisumu continues to reflect God’s quiet, steady work in a community that longs for care, dignity, and spiritual grounding. This week, pastors Baraka and his wife, serving with the Mission Assistance team, shared a report filled with moments of grace — both seen and felt — made possible through the support of those who stand with IMOCE’s mission.
The heart of their weekly rhythm remains the prayer room. Once a week, teenagers and young adults gather there to pause from the noise around them and learn to seek God in silence, Scripture, and prayer. These meetings have become a safe place where young people discover how to meditate on the Word — and, in many cases, how to trust God for the first time.
A significant moment this week was the medical camp held at the church. In a community where even basic healthcare is out of reach for many, this day became a lifeline. Around 480 people came for medical checkups, consultations, and treatment. Doctors examined each patient, medicines were provided, and every person was prayed for — for healing, strength, and renewal. Alongside the medical care, the team shared about Christ, offering hope not just for the body, but for the heart.
Discipleship remains a central pillar of the ministry. Pastor Baraka continues to meet with his discipleship group, opening Scripture together, encouraging one another, and learning to apply God’s truth in daily challenges. These gatherings are small but deeply transformative, shaping new leaders and steadying faith in young believers.
Regular Sunday services also continue, drawing adults and youth, especially now that schools are closed and more young people are at home. Each ministry — from children to teens to adults — becomes a doorway for discipleship and evangelism.
This week also brought a tender moment of honoring the elderly in the community. Grandmothers and grandfathers received food packages and warm words of care — a reminder that they are seen and valued. The church’s feeding program continues to sustain families in the slums, and with recent support, the number of people receiving meals has grown to 190. Fifty more individuals were welcomed in — each one representing a home that can breathe a little easier.
All of this becomes possible because of those who support the ministry through IMOCE. Their generosity helps local pastors reach their communities with compassion, practical help, and the hope of Christ.
Pastor Baraka and the team extend their gratitude to everyone who stands with them. The impact is real, and every life touched becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness at work.
