Assistance Mission By Nataliia Shchehliuk February 12, 2026 No Comments

Where the Lame Rise and the Young Stand Firm

In Kisumu, Kenya, quiet miracles are unfolding through the faithful service of missionary Sasha, who serves full-time with the Assistance Mission. Her days are filled with hospital visits, discipleship meetings, prayer, and long conversations with young people searching for hope. In all of it, one story continues to testify to the living power of God — the story of Collins.

In 2020, Collins was involved in a motorbike accident that left him unable to walk due to a spinal injury. Over time, neglect led to severe muscle atrophy and painful bedsores. When Sasha took responsibility for his case, her first concern was not only medical care but his spiritual foundation. She wanted him strengthened in the Lord before anything else.

Step by step, medical help was arranged. Doctors became involved. Treatment began. And alongside professional care, prayer surrounded him. People from different countries came and prayed for healing. One visitor shared that before traveling, he felt the Lord tell him he would “see the lame walk.” These moments strengthened faith — not only Collins’, but the faith of everyone who witnessed God’s presence in that hospital room.

Collins is not alone. David is preparing to travel to Nairobi to receive a prosthetic limb, opening a new chapter of mobility and dignity. Fleria, who had long endured dental pain, is finally receiving proper dental care. Each case reflects careful attention, practical compassion, and trust that God cares about the whole person.

Sasha often reflects on how abundantly God provides good medical care where it is needed most. She believes deeply that if the Lord has blessed them with resources and access, it is because His heart is for others to be cared for as well. This ministry continues thanks to those who support missionary work through IMOCE, making such interventions possible.

Alongside medical outreach, Sasha invests deeply in youth and teens. She understands their inner battles because she walks alongside them as one who has also known the complexity of youth. She believes God gives young people grace to be bold and radical for Him. Recently, there has been visible transformation — young men and women surrendering their lives to Jesus Christ, turning away from addictions, and discovering freedom in Him.

This is not only about moments of salvation. It is about discipleship — learning how to walk daily with the Lord. A team is forming around her, because this work cannot be carried alone. Sasha is intentionally building relationships, mentoring personally, and preparing leaders who will serve faithfully.

In 2026, the vision is to grow in evangelism. Just last Saturday, students from the Bible school went out to the market in small groups to share the Gospel. They returned with testimonies of conversations, prayers, and lives touched. The courage of these young believers is a reminder that the Gospel still carries power.

Through medical care, prayer, discipleship, and evangelism, God continues to reveal His compassion in Kisumu. Thank you to everyone who supports this mission through IMOCE. Your faithfulness allows both the vulnerable and the young to encounter tangible care and the transforming love of Christ.
