Supporting missionaries in Kenya 10/31/2024
Greeting everyone
My name is Baraka and I serve as Pastor in our local church in Kisumu, Kenya. I serve alongside my wife and our son.
It’s been great what God is doing and has done in the church since its establishment two years ago. We are grateful to IMOCE for helping us build this church and everyone who supports us financially and in prayers and partnership to ensure that we consistently continue to preach and teach the word of God in the slums where we are in.
I would love to share some of the things I have been up to in the last couple of weeks.
Last week we celebrated our second anniversary as a church. It has been two years of testimony and transformation. We have seen the impact the church has had in the community by being a beacon of hope, lighthouse and a centre of influence to the community.
A lot has changed in the last two years. More and more people have come to know Jesus through the church and many lives have been transformed through the church in different ways. We have been able to make more disciples for Christ and our vision is to see more people come to Jesus and more disciples made so the whole community and beyond can be witness of the gospel.
A big thank you also to all who supports us financially our church building and construction. Over the last few weeks as a church we embarked on finishing up the rooms that had not been constructed fully. We are happy that God has enabled us to see so much progress even as we anticipate that the new rooms and spaces will be of great help to the church and our ministries.
We thank God for our ministries of Kids, pre teens, teens and youth.
A few days a go it was great to hear a testimony from one of the new members of church who said that it is her young daughter who convinced her to go with her to church. The daughter is part of the Kids ministry at our church. She noticed the father doesn’t go to church and asked the father to go with her to the adult service on Sunday. And so the father was compelled to come.
He spoke and mentioned that he is ready to be part of the church too.
What a great testimony of how even the little children who we teach Jesus can have a great impact on their parents too.
Our feeding program continues to make a difference in the lives of about 128 people we serve. Every evening these families get a hot meal. Most of the people we have in this program are those who have completely nothing. Grandmothers; grandfathers, widows and orphaned children.
We are happy that this project has been a great evangelism tool. Thank you to IMOCE and everyone who supports this project.
As part of my administrative duties, I had a meeting with the people who work within the church. A young group of staff members who are more to us like servants in Churhc. Most of them young people from our church who have a heart to serve people and the church.
These meetings are also times when I can share the word of God and encourage them in faith too.
Last Sunday we also celebrated our grandmothers and grandmothers. We blessed them as a church with a gift of flour. Most of our grandparents in church and the older generation have been so consistent in church and we thank God that I can serve them as a pastor too.
I also thankful God for the opportunity to be pastor ; to preach and teach the people the word of God. Our desire is to raise disciples for Christ.
Every Sunday morning we have our regular Sunday worship services and every Friday I still get to serve our people at our prayer meetings. The prayer days have been so efficient and effective and we are grateful to God for his faithfulness.
May God bless each and everyone who supports us, prays for us and partners with us. Thank you for being part of the change and transformation that the church is doing here in the slums of Kapuothe in Kisumu Kenya. You are a blessing to us
