Steady Growth in West Pokot
In West Pokot, in the northern part of Kenya, quiet but steady progress continues through the ministry of Transforming Africa Foundation. Natalia and her family lead a team serving across several church communities, walking closely with pastors and local believers. Over the past months, there has been visible growth — not only in structures, but in hearts.
Across the churches, many people made the decision to follow Christ. A new church plant has begun in Akiriamiti, West Pokot County — a place where the Gospel had not yet taken deep root. In three different schools, children continue to receive food, a simple but life-sustaining support in a region where seasons of drought often leave families with very little.
One of the churches replaced its old wooden roof, which had begun to rot, with a new metal one. It is a practical change, yet it carries deeper meaning: stability, protection, and readiness for the future. Pastors and church members worked side by side to make this possible. Some helped with construction, others with painting and welding. Pastor Wilson and Pastor Kevin traveled nearly 140 kilometers to transport materials. It was shared effort, shared responsibility, shared faith.
Two pastors, Victor and Charles, who had previously been unwell, have now returned to active ministry. Church services continue without interruption. In two different locations, congregations celebrated their first annual church anniversaries — a milestone that speaks of perseverance and growth in places where ministry is often challenging.
There is gratitude for the return of rain after a long period of extreme heat and dryness. In this region, rain is more than weather; it is relief and renewed hope.
At the same time, challenges remain. Insecurity has increased around three church locations, influenced by political tensions and cattle rustling. Three pastors still serve without motorbikes, limiting their ability to move between scattered communities and making even basic supplies difficult to obtain. In rural West Pokot, distance is not measured only in kilometers, but in time, cost, and physical endurance.
Looking ahead, there is hope to open one more church location, to continue strengthening believers in their knowledge of God, and to support communities with access to water and simple sources of power for charging phones — small steps that create connection and opportunity.
This ministry continues because of God’s grace and because of those who choose to stand with these pastors and communities. The growth seen in West Pokot — new believers, strengthened churches, children fed, roofs replaced — is the fruit of faithful partnership. Deep gratitude is extended to everyone who supports this work and remains part of what God is doing in this region.
