Serving Together: Updates from the Mission in Kenya
This is Natalia, and she wants to share the latest updates from Kenya regarding the ministry that is being carried out thanks to financial and prayerful support. Together with the team, they continue to serve the people of Kenya at the equator.
Ministry at the Children’s Home
The last two weeks have been very busy. As already mentioned, Natalia started working with the children’s office and received the task of preparing foster families. The process has begun, and the first family has found a home. However, after this, government representatives asked to temporarily halt the work due to changes in leadership, which led to additional meetings and agreements. Over the past few weeks, they have been working on finalizing the budget, documents, and processes to ensure everything works efficiently.
Together with assistants William and Eston, Natalia is working to pass on all the necessary knowledge, and they are doing a great job.
At the shelter, they spend time with the children. One of the girls celebrated her birthday, and a sponsor gifted her a trip to the city with her friends. It was an unforgettable celebration, and they had fun riding attractions together.
Thanks to IMOCE
A big thank you to IMOCE for the financial support! Thanks to them, they were able to purchase clothes for 30 children at the shelter. In Kenya, due to the heat and high levels of UV radiation, clothes wear out quickly, so new clothes are a real necessity. This month, each child received a pair of crocs, and some of them also got sets of clothes.
Ministry for Children Aged 8-12
Every Wednesday, there are meetings for children aged 8-12. The focus now is on Jesus. They use Bible stories, especially from the New Testament, and present them in a way that is practical and understandable for children. The format includes discussing the Bible story, dividing the children into groups for further reflection, and asking them what they understood and how they can apply the lessons to their lives.
A special thank you to IMOCE for their support in providing food for the children! After school, the children often come very hungry, so having a hot meal is an essential part of the ministry. Last time, they served rice with soy meat, and the children ate it right at the place where food was distributed—they were very happy.
When the children are fed, they have the strength to listen and absorb spiritual truths. Taking care of their physical needs is an important part of the ministry that helps impact their hearts.
Spiritual Growth and Supporting Families
For children who want to know God more deeply, there are discipleship groups. They study the basics of Christianity, discuss topics like why it is important to be a disciple of Jesus, how to hear His voice, and how to build a relationship with Him.
Additionally, attention is given to the state of the children’s clothes. If they are too small or large, worn out, or if children come barefoot, new clothes are bought. If the situation is critical, they talk to the child, learn about their family, and, if necessary, provide a food package and 1-3 sets of good clothes.
Media Ministry and Translation
Natalia is also responsible for managing the ministry’s social media pages. She films and edits videos about different ministries that are then shared online. Over the past two weeks, while the translator was on vacation, she helped with translation during youth meetings and Sunday services at the church.
Thanks for the Support
Natalia thanks everyone for their support and prayers! Together, they can achieve greater things. Together, they can continue to spread the Kingdom of Jesus Christ on Earth.
May God bless each of you! 🙏
