Eight Years in Kenya: When Love Crosses Every Distance
My name is Natalia. I serve with the Assistance mission in Kenya, where, for the past eight years, I’ve walked alongside children and families, sharing life and faith one day at a time. Right now, I’m in Ukraine — visiting my family and taking time to care for my health — but the ministry hasn’t paused. Not for a day.
Even from thousands of kilometers away, I remain present. I join online Bible studies, help resolve school issues, talk to our teens, and stay in close contact with our foster families. Some days are filled with hospital visits — children fall, catch a fever, need medicine or comfort. When you’re caring for 30 children, these things become a part of everyday love.
I thank God — today they’re all healthy. And I thank every person who supports this ministry financially, because your giving makes care possible. Every visit, every gathering comes with warm meals or filling snacks. To the children, this isn’t just food. It’s love. It’s a reminder that someone remembers them, cares for them, and is walking with them — even if they’ve never met face to face.
Through these simple, consistent acts of care, children open their hearts. And in that openness, they begin to grasp the Gospel — not as a concept, but as a reality. God’s love becomes visible, tangible, close.
We continue to gather our teens in small groups and youth meetings, where we speak honestly about faith and life. We laugh, we pray, we build trust. And slowly, we see hearts transformed.
On July 4, I quietly celebrated eight years of serving in Kenya. Eight years of walking dusty roads, holding little hands, listening, teaching, hoping. I never imagined how deeply this land and these people would shape me. But they have — and they still do.
I often return to the words in Genesis 50:20:
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done — the saving of many lives.”
This journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always been filled with God’s presence. And it continues — because of your prayers, your trust, and your generosity.
Thank you for walking this path with me.
May the Lord bless you richly,
— Natalia
