In the heart of one of Kenya’s slum communities, a small local church has become a place of hope, worship, and transformation.

Pastor Baraka and his wife serve faithfully with a team of missionaries from Mission Assistance, leading a growing congregation that is now three years old. What began as a simple gathering of believers has become a vibrant community where children, youth, and adults encounter God’s love every week.

“Our local church is a testimony of the miracles God is doing in people’s lives,” Pastor Baraka shared. “Adults, youth, kids, and teens all have stories of how the church has changed them — both spiritually and physically.”

Today, the church welcomes around 250 adults, 350 children, 200 pre-teens, 100 teens, and 100 young people. Each group meets at different times for worship, teaching, and fellowship. For many children, Sunday school is not only a time of worship but also their main learning environment — a safe place to grow in faith and discover the joy of being part of God’s family.

The team is currently preparing to establish a prayer room — a quiet space where anyone, young or old, can come for uninterrupted time with God. As the number of believers continues to grow, the existing space has become too small, and the church is praying for provision to expand into a larger upper room.

Another beautiful expression of the church’s ministry is the daily feeding program, which provides a hot meal every evening for 140 vulnerable people from the community. For many, this is their only meal of the day. Yet beyond physical food, it brings the message of Jesus — His compassion and care for the hungry and the forgotten.

“God has used us to make sure people don’t go to bed hungry,” says Pastor Baraka. “But even more, He allows us to share His Word as we serve.”

The congregation continues to carry the compassionate heart of Jesus into the community, bringing hope to those who once had none. Pastor Baraka and his team express deep gratitude to everyone who stands with them — those who support financially and those who pray.

“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve our people and transform lives — one life at a time. The church continues to be a beacon of hope, and we trust God to keep leading us forward.”

Through the partnership of faithful supporters of IMOCE, lives in Kenya are being transformed — and hope is spreading, one meal, one prayer, and one heart at a time.
