A New Chapter of Mission: The Sydorchuk Family Begins Ministry in Tanzania
At the beginning of the new year, the Sydorchuk family steps into a new season of calling and obedience. After nearly ten years of full-time missionary service in Kenya, Vlada Sydorchuk and her husband Oleg have moved with their children to Tanzania, beginning a new chapter of mission life in a village located about forty minutes from Dar es Salaam.
Their years in Kenya were marked by deep commitment and shared life: marriage, the birth of children, hospitality to teams and guests, and faithful service to local communities. Two years ago, the family sensed a clear direction from God toward a new “exodus.” In January 2026, that calling became reality as they relocated to Tanzania, carrying with them a decade of ministry experience—and all their possessions—packed into eight suitcases.
In Tanzania, the Sydorchuks have joined a small international team serving in a rural village on the coast. This season is one of beginnings: learning a new language, understanding culture, building relationships with the local church and community, and integrating into a team with a different cultural background. The family is also adjusting to serving alongside an American-led mission team, navigating new approaches to teamwork and communication.
The mission they have joined is preparing for a significant development project. Plans include the construction of a missionary training school and base that will equip local leaders and pastors, as well as the establishment of a children’s home. Oleg Sydorchuk has arrived to serve as a construction supervisor for this large-scale project, bringing with him valuable experience gained through years of building work in Kenya. This new assignment allows him to serve using his professional gifts in a context where they are deeply needed.
During the initial months, the family’s focus is on settling basic life needs: securing housing, enrolling their son in school, and purchasing essential items such as beds, a refrigerator, cooking equipment, and household necessities. They were required to sell their vehicle in Kenya due to the high cost of import and customs clearance, and are now working toward stability and mobility in their new location.
Vlada plans to support the mission through social media and communications, while also learning and observing the development of women’s ministry within the local context. As the family prepares to fully engage in ministry from mid-January to early February, they are laying foundations—both practical and spiritual—for long-term service.
This move places the family on the Muslim coast of Tanzania, where access to the Gospel is limited and Christian witness requires wisdom, patience, and love. Their prayer and hope is that the message of Christ will be heard and received in this region.
The Sydorchuk family expresses deep gratitude to everyone who continues to walk with them, support them, and stand with them in prayer during this demanding transition. Their journey into this new field is carried forward with trust that God’s plans will unfold in the right time, according to His purpose.
With blessings for the New Year,
The Sydorchuk Family — Oleg and Vlada
