At the heart of Kenya, where red soil meets open hearts, missionary Katya Yamkovenko walks the dusty paths with purpose and faith. Together with her two daughters, she serves with the Assistance Mission in the Child Sponsorship Project—a lifeline for children from vulnerable families who would otherwise have no access to education.

Every day, Katya and her team visit homes, check on the sponsored children, and send updates to the kind-hearted people who support them. These visits often bring both joy and sorrow. “We see the real lives behind the names—stories of resilience, need, and hope,” Katya shares.

In addition to coordinating finances for the mission, Katya also provides basic medical aid. It’s often the only help available in remote areas where clinics are far and supplies are rare. “Many of our neighbours walk barefoot or wear worn-out flip-flops. There’s little asphalt here, and cuts and wounds on children’s feet are sadly common. But they know they can come to us—we’ll clean their wounds, pray for them, and listen.”

Last week, Katya hosted a special gathering for teenage girls. The topic was sensitive but necessary—sexual education, self-worth, and the message of the Gospel. Women from the mission shared their testimonies and created a safe space for questions, tears, and healing. In a culture where silence often surrounds these topics, moments like this matter deeply.

Through all the logistics and daily challenges, Katya’s eyes remain fixed on what truly matters: planting seeds of hope and dignity. “Every bandaged foot, every Bible verse spoken over a child, every honest conversation with a girl—this is where transformation begins.”

🙏 We are deeply thankful to everyone who supports the missionaries of the Assistance Mission. Your generosity makes it possible to care, to teach, to heal, and to shine God’s light in places often forgotten. May He bless you and glorify His name through your lives.
