A Quiet Work of Faith in Kisumu
The past weeks in Kisumu have carried many small, steady moments of God’s grace—moments that often begin quietly, in ordinary homes and humble gatherings, yet grow into something much deeper. Missionary Sasha, serving full-time with the Assistance Mission, shared how these days have unfolded, and how the young people of the community continue to seek Christ with sincerity.
The youth ministry gathered for a movie night—a simple meeting that became important after a difficult day. One of the church members had a funeral, and many young people were grieving. Sharing a film together created a space where they could breathe again, laugh a little, and feel safe among friends. That same week, their discipleship meetings continued. One lesson took place inside a small home where a girl lives with her mother and sibling. The room is tiny, and when it rains the roof leaks, yet the Word was opened there with the same attention and reverence as in any sanctuary.
At church, the team was able to pay salaries to local workers—an act that brings stability to families who rely on this ministry for their livelihood. New discipleship groups also formed: one with four young people eager to grow, and another with the Bible school students who continue to take steps of faith.
The ministry of evangelism and practical help also moved forward. The students were sent to knock on doors of homes they did not know, simply asking whether anyone needed help. Sasha’s group reached the house of a woman who used to attend church but now struggles with alcoholism. They prayed with her, hoping that these quiet visits will remind her that God has not forgotten her.
Another youth meeting welcomed Pastor Elvira from the second church—her message became an encouragement to the entire group. The ministry team also visited the home of David, a man who lost his leg due to diabetes but continues to follow the Lord with unwavering devotion. Two more teams went out to other families who needed prayer and companionship.
Time was also spent with children from the local orphanage. They now live in foster families, yet remain closely connected to the mission. And the youth ministry held another gathering filled with team-building, worship, prayer, and honest conversations about how to grow.
All these moments—small, steady, faithful—are possible because people choose to stand with this ministry. The support of IMОCE sponsors allows missionaries and local leaders to keep walking beside the young people of Kisumu, offering them hope, structure, and the presence of Christ in very real ways.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support the ministry in Kenya. Your generosity helps keep these doors open, these visits ongoing, and these young hearts surrounded by care. May God bless each one who walks together with us in this work.
