Serving the Elderly, Encouraging the Youth
These past weeks in Kisumu, Kenya, the ministry of Mission Assistance has been marked by both tender care for the elderly and powerful moments with the youth. Missionary Sasha Syskova, serving full-time here, shares how God continues to touch lives through simple acts of service and words of encouragement.
Together with local youth, Sasha visited four elderly families. They brought ugali, a staple meal in Kenya, and served with open hearts—cleaning homes where dirt floors make daily living difficult. Many grandmothers live in such conditions without anyone to help them.
“After cleaning, the most important part is to sit, talk, share God’s Word, and pray together,” Sasha says.
The youth ministry also experienced a deeply moving moment when Andrei, a long-time member of the team supported by IMOCE, shared his testimony before leaving for a new calling. His words about God’s work in his life left a lasting impact on the young people.
In addition, Sasha continues to translate at the Bible school and walk alongside the students. Recently, new missionary team members spoke to the youth about identity—a vital topic in a region where many young people grow up in broken homes.
Through it all, God’s presence is evident—in the smiles of grandmothers, in the prayers whispered in humble homes, and in the hearts of youth finding their place in Christ.
🙏 We want to thank everyone who supports Sasha and the ministry in Kisumu. Your prayers and gifts make this service possible, and through them, lives are being touched with hope and dignity.
