Serving One by One
Greetings from Kisumu, Kenya — where life moves slowly under the sun, but love moves steadily from heart to heart.
Natalia, a missionary with the Assistance mission, continues to serve children and teens with gentleness, wisdom, and faith — one soul at a time.
Recently, all of the children from the former children’s home transitioned into foster families. It’s a big change — but not a goodbye. The center’s mission lives on, just in a new format. The love is the same, now woven into everyday family rhythms: shared meals, real conversations, prayer, correction, and care.
During the school break, the center remained open as a space where children can gather — to play, to rest, to feel safe. This week, they shared a holiday meal to celebrate the end of the term — chicken and their favorite “potopliat,” a dish that has become a tradition.
Thanks to the support of those giving through IMOCE, all 30 children received new clothes and shoes. Five older girls living in foster homes were blessed with new blankets, towels, pillows, and sheets — small things that carry big comfort.
Natalia and her team continue mentoring and visiting — supporting foster moms, guiding children, and offering food packages through a carefully planned schedule.
One story stands out: Edwin, a boy whose schooling was in jeopardy due to unpaid fees. But someone stepped in. The debt was covered. His uniform and shoes were bought. His entire posture changed. He’s finishing school now — proud, hopeful, ready.
In quieter moments, Natalia also teaches handcraft skills. Two young people from the “Year for God” program joined her crochet class. In just three months, they completed two impressive projects. What began as simple yarn became a journey of growth and perseverance.
And every week, a small group of preteens gathers for a shared meal — where the food is good, and the love of God is real.
This is what mission looks like. It’s not loud. It’s faithful. It’s one life at a time, one step at a time.
To everyone supporting this work through IMOCE — thank you. Your kindness is not forgotten. It’s felt in every meal, every visit, every restored hope.
Together, we serve.
Together, we love.
Together, we keep going.
