A Steady Work of Hope in West Pokot

In West Pokot, Kenya, the past two weeks have been filled with quiet but meaningful ministry as Natalia Onguko continued serving across four Life Centers, walking closely with women, girls, schools, and local churches. In a place where daily life is often shaped by hardship, these moments of discipleship, prayer, and care are helping hold communities together and remind many people that they are not forgotten.

Natalia Onguko, who serves as a missionary and team lead in West Pokot, spent this period ministering to women and young girls, supporting two primary schools as they returned to their usual rhythm after the mid-term break, and encouraging children at the girls rescue center. There, time was shared not only in devotion and prayer, but also in simple, life-giving moments of playing together and planting side by side. The girls were refreshed and strengthened as they prepared to return to school, and their education remains one of the most important investments in their future.

Part of this ministry also included sessions with young girls on womanhood and the reproductive system, helping them receive needed guidance, dignity, and support at a vulnerable stage of life. Natalia also joined services in places such as Kachanguya village, Kapenguria, and Boys High School near the new church plant, where the Gospel continues to be shared among local communities.

At the same time, the leaders serving in CEC churches across West Pokot continued ministering faithfully. Sunday services remained a place where people gathered to hear God’s Word, pray together, and grow in faith. During this period, new visitors came to church, and two people made the decision to become church members. These steps may seem small from a distance, but for a local church they are signs of living growth.

One of the most joyful moments of these two weeks was the first anniversary celebration of Nasokol CEC Church. It became a day of gratitude and joy, with many people in attendance, including guests from neighboring churches. Bishop Kibisu Michael joined the service, and together the church thanked God for His faithfulness through the first year of ministry. For a young church plant, this anniversary was more than a celebration of time passed. It was a testimony that the church has taken root.

Church leaders also continued serving beyond the walls of the church building. Weekly prayer and fasting meetings brought believers together in deeper dependence on God, while house-to-house evangelism remained an important part of ministry in the villages. Families were visited, prayers were offered, and the message of the Gospel was shared personally. Special attention was also given to house fellowship gatherings, including prayer meetings in the home of an elderly community member. These gatherings carry real weight in village life, bringing encouragement and spiritual support directly into people’s homes.

This ministry continues in the middle of serious need. Many families are living under the pressure of poverty and food insecurity. Some people must spend their days grazing goats or searching for gold just to provide for their households. At times, this even keeps them from attending church services on Sundays. The reality is difficult, but the need makes this ministry even more important. In such places, the presence of the church becomes both spiritual support and a visible reminder of God’s care.

This work in West Pokot continues because people choose to stand with it in prayer and practical support. Thanks to those who support the ministry through IMOCE, girls are able to continue their education, churches remain active in their communities, and families in hard places are still being reached with the love of Christ. We thank everyone who continues to support this ministry. Your partnership is helping bring faith, encouragement, and hope to people in West Pokot, and the fruit of that faithfulness is already being seen in changed lives.
