Almost Nine Years of Faithful Service: Caring for Children and Families in Kenya
For nearly nine years, this ministry has been carried out through the Assistance Mission, with a deep commitment to serving God by serving children. At the heart of this calling is long-term care for orphans, foster families, and the next generation of children and teens growing up in vulnerable circumstances.
Supporting Foster Families With Care and Presence
In earlier years, the ministry included full responsibility for a children’s home. Today, the focus has shifted to supporting foster families — walking alongside them in the everyday realities of life. This work is holistic and relational. It includes assistance with documentation, schooling, medical needs, nutrition, spiritual development, children’s physical well-being, and the health of relationships within each family.
Home visits, personal conversations, counseling, and training sessions for parents are a regular part of this service. These moments create space for trust, honesty, and restoration. After many visits, families also receive food packages — not simply as aid, but as a tangible reminder that God sees their decision to welcome orphaned children into their homes and does not leave them without support.
The fruit of this ministry is visible in real lives. One such story is Lisa, an eleven-year-old girl who has become especially close to the team. Through the support of mission partners and sponsors, she received a bicycle, new clothes, and a birthday celebration filled with song and joy. For her, it was more than a gift — it was a moment of being seen, valued, and loved.
Discipling Children and Teens Through Relationship
Another key direction of this ministry is working with children and teens between the ages of 8 and 14. These gatherings take place weekly, on Wednesdays or Saturdays, and care for both physical and spiritual needs.
Each meeting includes a hot meal, made possible through the faithful support of those who stand with the mission. For many children, this meal is essential. More than that, it opens the door for them to experience the care of Jesus in a very real way.
On weekdays, small group meetings focus on Scripture. Children are taught not to read the Bible superficially, but to pause, reflect, and ask meaningful questions: what does this passage say, what does it mean for me, and how can I live it out? Over time, they begin to see God’s Word as living and active — something that speaks into their daily lives.
Saturdays are dedicated to full youth gatherings. These are vibrant, joyful meetings filled with games, laughter, worship, praise, shared Bible stories, and prayer. They are alive with energy and sincerity, creating a safe and joyful space where young hearts can grow in faith.
Gratitude for Those Who Make This Possible
This ministry continues thanks to the generosity of people who support the work of the mission. Through their faithfulness, children are fed, families are strengthened, and young lives are shaped with hope and purpose.
Thank you to everyone who walks alongside this mission and makes this service possible. Your support is not abstract — it is lived out every day in the lives of children and families who are learning that they are not forgotten, and that God’s care is real.
