Supporting missionaries in Kenya
Warm Greetings from Sunny Africa!
For almost eight years, I have been serving in Kenya with the mission Sodeystvie. This past week was particularly challenging as I fell ill with typhoid after a trip with the children. The illness was severe, but praise God, I was able to recover at home, and I’m feeling much better now.
Preparing for the New School Year
With the new year approaching, our children are getting ready to return to school. My assistant and I purchased most of the necessary supplies, sorted stationery by class, and labeled each backpack. We will be distributing them soon to ensure every child is equipped for the new term.
Packing Thousands of Christmas Gifts
This year, I’m also responsible for purchasing and packing 3,000 Christmas gifts for children in the slums we serve. Last year, we prepared 2,000 gifts and later added another 400, but even that wasn’t enough to meet the demand. This year, we anticipate distributing up to 3,000 gifts during evangelistic outreach events. Due to stock limitations in local stores, we’re purchasing items in batches of 1,000, carefully organizing everything, and placing additional orders for what’s needed.
“Fire” Camp for Preteens and Teens
This week and next, we are hosting the Fire Camp as part of our preteen and teen ministry. The camp is designed for children who have been born again or deeply desire to know God. We’ve been discussing important topics, and I’ve been teaching lessons about the characteristics of Jesus’ disciples and how God speaks to and guides us.
It’s incredible to see children aged 8–15 so eager to develop a relationship with God. They study the Bible verses we give them, engage actively in group discussions, and ask thought-provoking questions. Their desire goes beyond simply attending church—they want to become true disciples and servants of Christ. It’s truly inspiring!
Christmas Spirit in the Shelter
Our shelter is already filled with the Christmas spirit. Despite my late start due to illness, I began leading Advent activities with the children. One of the tasks was to create a play, and one group of five children came up with a beautiful shadow theater performance about the Nativity. Their creativity was astounding, and the result was simply breathtaking.
Overcoming Transportation Challenges
To carry out our mission, we often rely on a tuk-tuk for transportation, as the road to the most affordable warehouse is heavily damaged, with water and rocks making it impassable for our vehicle. Despite these challenges, we are making progress thanks to God’s provision and your support.
Thank You for Partnering with Us
