Greetings from Onguko family!
Over the past two weeks we have had several activities going on through our projects.
Education
We have supplied stationery (books, pens, wall charts, reading materials) to three schools one in Kisumu and another two in West Pokot.220 children were supported to receive meals while at school. 10 teachers have been supported to carry out their duties of teaching the children. Three additional vulnerable girls were rescued from the boarder between Kenya and Uganda while running away from forced child marriage, the girls are currently safe at our rescue enter in West Pokot and have been enrolled in school. The shelter currently has 14 girls who are receiving basic needs, care, love and protection on a daily basis. We have also engaged a missionary at the shelter who conducts daily biblical lessons with the girls and offers counseling services to them as well.
Constructions
Work continues at the proposed girl’s shelter, we are happy to have struck water at a depth of 120M, we already installed a water pump inside and conducted test pumping… all is well. We are now using the same water from the well to put up the walls of the girls rescue center in West Pokot. When complete we will be able to leave the rented facilities to our own building potentially by May 2024. We also completed two more classrooms in West Pokot, our dream is to have a complete school at Kachanguya which will support the learning of many children in the area.
Church
We started our school outreaches in West Pokot visiting all the schools within our surrounding. Last week we are visiting one of the high schools at Kachanguya and got the opportunity to preach to over 200 students. 11 boys gave their lives to Christ. We now have weekly school programs that will ensure our presence in the schools evangelizing to our surrounding. Thank you so much – it is so precious that I can serve because of your support !
Many blessings
